Based on the project three Stakeholders where selected, farmers, middleman and mill owners. These three stakeholders are the primary contact point to understand the process of buying raw product from the field to converting it to value added product and selling it as the retail product. As a designer, appropriate tools should be selected to understand the participants better.
Sometimes it is better to think in reverse, they were lots of tools listed out but selecting an appropriate to was tough. As a designer started thinking what data are required to understand the stakeholders.
It was necessary to know farmer's mental health, profit and loss from the crop, about their family, finance and how they are managing. The details, which were expected from middleman, were communication, contact and how they deal with family and the mill owners. It was a great deal to understand the finance and the contact of Mill owners with Farmers and Middleman.
Above all these tools selection this research design Project is about how to educate a non-designer to do studies in the field and provide the designer the date they required. It needs experience even as a designer to understand the ethnography of the people and their place. Ethnography, simply stated, is the study of people in their own environment through the use of methods such as participant observation and face-to-face interviewing.
The following are the list of tools I have created to understand the participants, situations and their problems with the help of young designers who are from the same locality. The first tool created was a guide to non-designer. This guide is to simplify the process of understanding the ethnography of the people and their problems. Create a calendar question card postcard and connecting dot tools for the Farmers. Calendar and shadowing tools designed for the middleman and created connecting dots and calendar tools for mill owners.
